For months Leah has been following this family on YouTube (Funnel Vision). They always go on vacation and all of these fun places. Leah loves this family. They've gone to Hawaii, the Bahamas, and also LEGOLAND in Florida. As soon as Leah watched their LEGOLAND adventure, she had been talking about it ever since and would frequently tell me how much she wants to go there. One day I decided to look into it just for fun. LEGOLAND is in Florida, just outside of Orlando. When I went to the website, I just about fell out of my chair. HOLY COW it was SOOOO expensive.
At LEGOLAND, there is a theme park and water park and then they have a full themed hotel where practically everything is made out of legos or lego décor. It was actually pretty awesome, but ridiculously over-priced. For two nights, it would have been close to $1500. I broke the news to Leah that we wouldn't be able to go there. After a few more weeks of planning, we did decide we wanted to take a trip to Florida for our annual vacation. We were going to rent a house in Naples, as we had the year before. After securing the house, I was still thinking about LEGOLAND because I knew how much Leah and Mason would love it. I started pricing out options to just go to the theme park and water park and forgo the hotel. It was still expensive, but much more affordable than doing the whole kit and caboodle. Rob has tons of hotel points, so I had him look into a hotel near LEGOLAND and we were able to find one. A few weeks before our trip, I booked tickets to LEGOLAND and kept it a huge surprise to the kids. They knew we were going to Florida, but they didn't know that we decided to tack on a few extra days to go to LEGOLAND.
It was Mason's birthday the day we left for Florida. We got picked up in a limo and the kids thought it was the coolest thing ever. We flew into Fort Meyers and then had to drive almost two hours to get to Winter Haven (where LEGOLAND is). At this point, the kids still had no clue where we were going. We went and checked into the (non-LEGOLAND) hotel and there were signs all over for LEGOLAND. Leah started to question why there were signs. We played dumb. After getting situated, we told the kids to get their bathing suits on and that we were going to try and find the beach. Little did they know, we were heading to the waterpark at LEGOLAND. They were beyond excited and so happy. It made this surprise all worth while! We spent two days at LEGOLAND and it was so worth it. Even though we didn't stay at the LEGOLAND hotel, we were able to hang out in the lobby and check out all of the cool things. The kids had the best time and the place really exceeded my expectations. It was awesome (even though over-priced). I hope the kids will hold onto all of these memories! It really was a lot of fun!!
